FLOURISHING NEIGHBORHOOD INDEX

Wellington Heights Community Church is embarking on a new project beginning in 2024: the Flourishing Neighborhood Index (FNI).

The Flourishing Neighborhood Index measures the community's health across economic, social, and structural indicators. The index uses neighbor-to-neighbor surveys to gather this data – surveys are conducted by neighborhood residents, with Wellington Heights Community Church offering training and compensation.

The data collected is FROM the neighborhood and FOR the neighborhood. Results will be collected and analyzed to learn more about the holistic wellness of Wellington Heights. From there, we can create strategic plans together to support the flourishing of all within the neighborhood.

Focused Community Strategies, based at the Lupton Center in Atlanta, Georgia, developed the tool. The FSC team will guide and consult with Wellington Heights Community Church throughout the 18-month implementation of the FNI process.

The FNI tool will collect data for the following categories:

  • Economic Indicators:

    • Local Commerce

    • Household Income

    • Employment

    • Housing

  • Social Indicators:

    • Sense of Place

    • Credible Leadership

    • Neighborhood Connectivity

    • Civic Infrastructure

  • Structural Indicators:

    • Health & Social Services

    • Education

    • Safety & Security

    • Transportation & Access

    • Physical Environment

Wellington Heights Community Church will manage the project, but the Flourishing Neighborhood Index is a shared process rich with mutualistic collaboration. Organizations, businesses, and individuals interested in the FNI are invited and encouraged to reach out so we can collaborate.
