At WHCC we have a long-standing tradition of offering both traditional and non-traditional gatherings. We believe that we can connect with God, self, others and all of creation in a multiplicity of ways.

Embodiment Sunday is dedicated to practicing one of three core postures: rest, connect, and embody. Emphasizing the significance of these embodiment Sundays is critical, as they not only define our uniqueness but it is the trajectory of where the church needs to go for its flourishing.

By adopting the term "Embodiment Sunday," we believe to instill a sense of pride and purpose in our engagement with non-traditional services.

Rest

Sabbath rest is a divine gift given to us by God. Embodiment Sunday allows the Beloved Community to collectively embrace Sabbath practices by pushing back against our culture’s relentless pace as an act of Holy resistance.

Connect

Opening ourselves to connection with God, self, others and all of creation to create a sense of belonging, mutuality, solidarity, and collective responsibility.

Embody

Through embodiment we integrate spiritual rhythms and practices in our daily lives that are sustainable and sustaining.
